October in Review

Now that it's the middle of November I think it's appropriate to post about October :). I at least had to share Kiley's cute Halloween costume and brag about Dave's first Ragnar.

I'll start with Dave. Yes, he ran his first Ragnar Relay last month. This was actually his second race but first Ragnar, make sense? He ran a competitors race in Washington in September and then ran the Las Vegas Ragnar. What really impresses me is that he hardly trained for them. Seriously, he hardly trained! I'm talking couch to marathon kind of stuff. His first race he ran over 15 miles broken up over 3 legs mind you. His longest leg being a 6 miler...who does that without training? The Vegas race was similar, about 15 miles over 3 legs with zero training before hand. I was so nervous for him but he took it all like a champ even in the 90 degree heat. Gotta love him (and gotta love those short running shorts ;))!

We had a wonderful Halloween. At Ragnar, Halloween is a holiday so Dave got the day off. We went on a hike and went out to lunch. Kiley was a scarecrow and we were impromptu farmers. She was the cutest little scarecrow you've ever seen. We got the little outfit from Dave's aunt who is an expert seamstress. All I had to do was paint her nose and put sunflowers in her hair. I'm all about using what you got when it comes to Halloween costumes. We'll see how long that lasts.

What else kept us so busy that we didn't blog? Well, it's pretty cold so we've been staying close to our heaters. I mean really close.

Dave and Kiley have also been busy watching football on Saturdays. Dave taught Kiley to say WoohWooh every time football is on. He convinces me that they need to watch football cause Kiley loves it. Oh boy, it is pretty cute when they watch it together.

Hee Haw Farm

Saturday night we met Curt and Holly and their boys at Hee Haw Farms. The farm had a petting zoo, corn pit, hay ride, and pony rides to name a few.

The first place we started was the petting zoo. Some of Kiley's favorite books are about farm animals so we were anxious to see what she thought of them in real life. She was terrified of touching the goats and sheep. Dave was able to convince her to finally pet a baby goat. She loved watching the chickens and the pigs were her favorite. She would constantly go back to the fence and yell "oin-oin" at them.

Her and Tucker spent a lot of time in the corn pit where they played and dug in the corn kernels. I think the adults all decided that corn may be the next best sand box filler. It's not nearly as dirty as sand and it's actually fun to play in.

We then went on a hay ride and picked a pumpkin in a real pumpkin patch. Kiley loved walking around to inspect each pumpkin. We now have a cute little Kiley size pumpkin for our front porch.

My favorite part of the night (besides hanging out with some very good friends) was when Kiley went up to a complete stranger and held out her hand for a doughnut. I was mortified but the lady was really nice and gave her one. Looks like we need to teach Kiley some stranger danger.

Family Pictures

Yes, I know I said I would post something every day but I lied...or just got really busy, either one. I do want to share some pictures we got of our family Saturday afternoon.

So, when Dave and I had Kiley we definitely knew we would love her but seriously, we had no idea how deep that love would be. That little face is our world and how could it not be she's the sweetest thing I've ever seen.

She went to nursery for the first time today and it nearly killed Dave and I to send her. Dave described it as forced babysitting which I thought was appropriate. I took her in and sat her down and then left. She didn't cry but sat and played quietly. I know for a fact that Dave spent most of the two hour block at the little peak window seeing how she was doing. I can't believe my baby is growing up. I'm so proud of the sweet person that she is and we thank our Heavenly Father everyday for letting us be her parents!

Side note: I know many of you are thinking, "Geez Hailey grow up and let your daughter have some independence." Just a couple weeks ago I left her in Primary for an hour because I just couldn't stand having her with me in YW's one more second. I left her then shedding tears of joy. I think it all depends on whether it's a choice or whether I'm forced into it. Kind of a teenager mentality :).

Dear Grandma Kunz

Today mommy and I decorated our house for Halloween. She let me play with some window stickers that you got her and daddy to decorate their first apartment with. I had so much fun sticking them to the window. Soon I realized however that these window stickers can stick to my bare tummy. What do you think of my Halloween decorations?

I also love playing with the skull and pumpkin that light up when you turn on the switch. We have these furry spiders that I love looking at but don't ever want to touch. I miss you grandma and hope that we will see you soon.

Love,
Your Grand-baby

Miss Independence

Kiley

My darling girl. Why is it you have to do everything your way? Today I decided you were the one in charge. So, we walked to the park and you pushed your stroller with your ball and Yodel the dog along for the ride. We went down the spiral slide enough times to make mommy sick. You spent most of your time running through the wet sand with no shoes. I didn't tell you when it was time to go. I let you decide when we were done. I learned that you are much happier doing things on your schedule. Maybe we should do this more often.

Love,
    Mom

Why?

Why is blogging such a pain? I'm not very good about blogging and it's not just blogging but journaling in general. I know how important keeping a journal is which is why I probably feel so guilty when I don't blog. Apparently guilt isn't enough to make me get on here more than once a month to update what we're doing.

So, after feeling very frustrated about my lack or enthusiasm for "blog-naling" I had an epiphany. I will do small updates each day from one moment or event that meant a lot to our family. I think it will be much easier for me to write down the small things instead of having to document every huge thing...less daunting I think and less picture loading which I hate with a passion. So, our new Kunz blog-journaling-saga will begin. I feel good about this and I know it will truly be a blessing to our family in the future. Here's to "blog-naling"!

And because no one comes on here to hear me ramble. Below are two pictures of Kiley. The first is my favorite picture of Ky and her daddy. I think I need to get her the Friend. The second is Kiley's kissy face, so cute!

Our Summer in Pictures

Maybe your summer looked something like ours....

Time with family
Mesa Falls, Idaho

Plenty of playing in the sand and mud
Lake Powell

Jumping...because it's good exercise
Lake Powell

Lots of swimming. Kiley calls that tube baby.
Lake Powell

Swimming in a pool of sponges instead of water. Have fun without the mess.
Ward Party

The great thing about being done with school is that summer isn't technically over. We hope to go camping at least one more time and Dave is going to survive his first over-nighter relay. I hope to have pictures of their costumes soon. Wish him luck!!
